CURRENTLY MAKING : GRAINLINE'S NEW ARCHER PATTERN

2.26.2013

I have seen sneak peeks of Grainline's new Archer pattern on instagram over the last few weeks and was anxiously awaiting it's release.  So I was super excited to see a post last night that it was done and for sale.  I downloaded it this morning and spent any free time I could find printing it out, taping it together, and cutting out the pattern.  I am going to make up a muslin first, but I already have two fabrics ready to sew up into Archers.

This floral that I bought a few weeks ago in the garment district:

And I just ordered this cotton lawn online last night.

So how about you guys.  Are you as excited as I am about this pattern?  Are you going to make it up?  If so what fabrics are you thinking of using?

KNITTED : GAPTASTIC COWL IN CITRON

2.22.2013

I finally finished my second Gaptastic cowl - this time for me to keep.  I used 3 skeins (of the lion brand wool-ease thick and quick) instead of 2 and it ended up about 14 inches wide - which still leaves it plenty oversized.  We are still lying low around here (hence the iphone pics) so I havn't had a chance to truly test it out, but my suspicions are that it will keep me plenty warm on the windy NYC streets.

If you want to see my first version of this scarf, along with some tips for knitting it up click here.

BABY PICS

2.19.2013

I took a little time and took some baby pics of our little boy the other day before he no longer looks like a newborn.  Here is the one that we used for our birth announcement.
OK I'm going to go snuggle with him now.  I'll be back in a couple of days with my finished infinity scarf.

TUTORIAL : HEART HAIR ACCESSORY VALENTINES

2.13.2013

We live in a building with a lot of little girls that are my daughter's age.  We decided to use some clay and make these cute little hair accessories for some of her friends. These are very easy to make so I put together a little tutorial and download for anyone who would like to make some too.

Materials:

polymer clay
hair pins
knife
oven
glue gun
cardstock
printer
xacto knife

Step 1
Take a small amount of clay and roll it into a ball.

Step 2
Flatten ball and pinch bottom.

Step 3
Using a knife create peaks in the top of the heart.

Step 4
Bake at 275 degrees for 30 minutes.

Step 5
Let cool and then glue to the hair pins.

Step 6
Print the following valentines on cardstock.  (Just click to make large and print) Cut the two slits with an xacto knife.

Assemble and you are done!

BABY BOY HAS ARRIVED

2.10.2013

Our little boy was born Thursday morning and we are now home and resting.  Things will probably be a little quiet around here while I recoup and enjoy my family, but I thought I just fill you in on the news.  More pics to come, but here are a couple of phone pics for the time being.
